E. Crawfords letters were donated to the Haralson County Historical Society by Mr. Crawford Weaver on 1/2/2019. The letters were written by his uncle and legal guardian, Eugene Weaver of Draketown, GA born May 8th, 1912 to Margaret Goldin Weaver of Bremen, GA.
Mr. Eugene Weaver was drafted to service and was 4 year military veteran of WWII. After his military service he worked at Sewell Manufacturing in Bremen GA and retired as a supervisor due to medical issues. Mr. Weaver died on Nov. 4th, 1982 and is buried in the Corinth Baptist Church cemetery located at the front of the church located on the west side of Rockmart Road (Haralson County Cemetery book, page 107). Mr. E. Weaver also had a daughter named Joanne Weaver born Sept. 7th, 1949 who died in a fire on April 27th, 1955. She is buried beside her father in the Corinth Baptist Church cemetery.
We hope to make digital versions of the letters and other ephemera in the collection available online soon.
